Route 29 Survey, Ugly Sweater Happy Hour, 2026 Save the Dates, and Council Priorities!

Happy December Falls Church Forward,

We hope you enjoyed the snow and are gearing up for the holiday season. Last month, despite the chilly temperatures, more than 25 volunteers joined us to paint and build five beautiful bus stop benches. If you spot one in the wild, tag us on socials! Thank you again to everyone who came out.

See below for some upcoming activities and things to stay tuned for in 2026!

🍻❄️⛄️ Ugly Sweater Holiday Happy Hour

Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) has launched a new study of transportation conditions along Route 29, from the Beltway to Tripps Run at the City of Falls Church/Fairfax County border, just east of South Maple Avenue. As part of this effort, FCDOT is gathering public feedback on how people walk, bike, drive, and take transit along the corridor—check out our recommendations for what improvements are most needed.

🗓️✏️⏰ Save the Dates in 2026!

In 2026, join us for happy hour every third Thursday of the month from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm. We'll also be hosting quarterly member meetings. Our first one is scheduled for Sunday, January 25th from 2pm-4pm and will focus on parking reform. Stay tuned for event locations AND the debut of an online calendar on our website soon!

⚖️ 💰️ 2026 Council Priorities

In January, the Council will gather to set their priorities for the year. From public services to infrastructure and more, the priorities help set the direction for the year and guide City budgeting. We'll be submitting a letter to reaffirm our priorities. If you have something you'd like us to add, let us know by sending us an email!

♥️ 💪 Thank You for 2025

Thank you to everyone who shared their time and talents with us to help strengthen our community and transform our Little City this year! In 2025 you joined us to learn how local government works through Civics Bootcamp, kept items out of the landfill by participating in the Share Fair, painted a beautiful crosswalk mural under the Eden Center gate, welcomed new neighbors at our annual summer potluck, rolled out the New Neighbor Welcome Kits, packed the room for our Council Candidate forum, took to the streets in costume for our Halloween Bike Parade, sampled foods from local FC businesses during the food tour, and came together to build much needed benches for bus stops across town. We can't wait for all the wonderful things we'll accomplish together in 2026!

Cheers,
Pat, Naudy, Andrea, Evan, Justine, Ross and Letty
