Hello!
It's been a month since our January kickoff meeting - we have 3 easy calls to action before we re-group at the end of the month:
1) Grow the Coalition: If you haven't told friends/neighbors about FCF, people can sign up at FallsChurchForward.org to be added to this email list. Also take a peek at the Slack channel (lots of good education being shared) as a safe space to connect and learn from each other.
2) T Zones Info Session: if you would like more information about the T zone proposal and the edits the Planning Commission is considering ahead of their Feb 15 final vote, the League of Women Voters held a Q&A session this Thursday with Planning staff in the library at Meridian High School. The video of the event is here if you missed it. If you haven't yet signed or circulated the petition supporting T zone changes, sign the petition HERE so we can show the Planning Commission and City Council there are "yes" voices in the community.
As a quick elevator speech, we believe the Transition Zone updates will:
- Encourage more diverse housing choices at a wider range of price points
- Welcome new residents to our community
- Support our small businesses
- Promote more sustainable urban design
- Foster new opportunities for placemaking and walkable neighborhoods
3) Next Meeting: Our next meeting will be Sunday, Feb 26 from 4-6 pm at Viget (105 W Broad St 4th floor, Falls Church, VA 22046). Bring a few like-minded friends with you. Our main topics will be: (1) educate and mobilize on T Zones; (2) Updates on projects pertaining to other pillars (biking updates, affordable housing updates, etc.); and (3) discuss and plan future areas where we can lend our support.
(NOTE: We are shifting by an hour to 4-6 PM so that we don't conflict with the League of Women Voters birthday from 2-4 PM that day.)
Hope to see you on the 26th!
